The result for Bartpe and DIXML was 20-25 minutes and 14 odd Gig of backup on the USB disk.

I will format the c: and check the result on restoration to ensure DIXML is robust; and also back with this group to see what ensues with PING.

I would like to see a more generalist tool based on Linux prosper.

For completeness, this relates to a previous post where I experienced very slow backup on ping beta 3 and compared dixml on bartpe. Today I finally got round to hard testing the backup made with dixml. I blew away the partition (verified) and then restored. The machine appears to boot and operate faultlessly in XP.

I would like to now know which thread I should be corresponding on to provide whatever reasonable feedback or actual help I can provide with this project.

probably the last 3.00 to be announced here rather than in the homepage... here's PING 3.00 20090101. Essentially, the kernel has been updated to 2.6.28, which should solve a few issues. And... there's a nice logo

PING is still alive ! There's a lot to do, but right now, a new PING beta is available here.
Right now, most changes concern the drivers.

Does this beta now handle the Ext4 partitions created by default in Ubuntu 9.10 (and newer), or is that still prevented due to Partimage limitations?

Oh my.. banged my head with my ext4 Ubuntu backup until I got it - not supported.

ntfs-3g still not working properly

It doesn't resize the hard drive we have 10gb image which we deploy and the remaining 140GB doesn't show up on my computer. So ping 3.1 doesn't resize whole of hard drive.

Can't we use hda.part (which works fine on ping 2.17)

Please consider adding this proposed fix:

It solves some issues going from HDA to SDA drives that I'm still experiencing in 3.0.0.

Hi people!

I'm very interested to know what happens to ext4 filesystems. The latest version of PING seems to fail randomly when trying to backup such partitions.
