Can't connect computer to save image to

Postby cbascur » Thu Mar 03, 2011 7:38 pm

First ime using this for. I thought it looked easy enough but I'm stuck connectiong to the network share.
I have both computers (Win7 32-bit) on the network (DHCP), the one to be imaged and the one to save the image to. I have created the Share as follows
c:\Partimage shared to Everyone
I boot from latest PINg CD (3.01) and choose to save image to network share. I choose CIFS, SMB server I enter the IP of the computer where I will save my image, the for share name I enter the following \\computername\sharename, for username I enter domain\administrator and password. This tries and I see some black screens go by and the fails, and asks me to enter the SMB server again. On that black screen I do see and error 6 go by but it's fast so can't read everything else. Hope someone can help me out.

Thx
Cristian

For the sharename try just the sharename.
For authentication try domain/administrator.

This is Lenox so use forward slashes.

Ok, found the solution on another post. I was using the downloaded PDF How To file and it doesn't explain fully the part about creating the share. You first have to download PartImage.zip. Found the full instrauctions at http://ping.windowsdream.com/ping/howto-2.01.html

Thx anyway!!

Yeah, I seem to recall that Ping 3 was supposed to detect the absence of the partimage.zip files and install them onto the share, but it never worked right.
